is it cheaper to heat with gas or electric?
Gas heaters are cheaper than electric heaters for the same power output because they primarily burn propane gas. For example, a 10kW gas heater only consumes 0.71kg of propane gas and 28W of electricity per hour, as the electricity is mainly used to power the motor. Even if it burns continuously for 8 hours overnight, it only requires 5.68kg of propane gas and 230W of electricity. Electric heaters, on the other hand, are completely different. A 10kW electric heater primarily uses electricity to heat the heating element and blow hot air. This results in higher power consumption. A 10kW electric heater requires 10 kWh per hour to operate. If you use it continuously for 8 hours a night, it will consume 80 kWh per day. Gas heaters are also cheaper for the same power. In Europe and America, electricity is usually more expensive than gas, so gas heaters are more economical than electric heaters. For different power ratings, if you need a heater for a small room, a smaller power heater will be cheaper than a larger one. For example, a 2kW electric heater is cheaper than a 5kW one.
